Found in the #656 QA pass (v0.6.247, both dogfoods).

Matrix row: §1 Sign-in, "OIDC sign-in … username in avatar menu" / style guide (consistency).

Steps

Signed in as nikola-test on files.c0rdyceps.ch and files-bao.c0rdyceps.ch.
Look at the avatar in the top bar, then open it.

Expected: one initials rule. The same identity shows the same initials everywhere.

Seen: the top-bar avatar shows NI (first two letters of the username), but the menu header avatar for the same account shows NT (initials of the hyphenated parts nikola-test). Reproduced on both hosts.
